Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years foodservice or retail management experience
  • at least 16 years old
  • flexibility to work weekends, holidays and evenings
  • reliable transportation and an active driver’s license
  • ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • ability to work in walk-in coolers and freezers
  • ability to stand for long periods, bend and twist below waist
  • dexterity with hands to use necessary equipment
  • serv-safe certification preferred
  • vocational or technical education

  • ability to safely use knives, slicers, burners, ovens, fryers and rotisseries (for ages 18 and above)

Job Duties

  • process cash register transactions, giving back change and refunds
  • learn to use register, scales, scanners and debit/credit terminals
  • learn to use UPC codes, store signage, and memorize various register keys and codes
  • read UPC codes, product labels, shelf signage, register forms, and posted company policies/procedures
  • learn and work with deli ingredients including various meats, vegetables, fruits, spices, nuts, flavorings, sauces and oils
  • use scale printer machines, ensuring weights and pricing are correct
  • monitor product pricing, signage, placement and use of product shelf tags and shelf signage
  • keep a clean, neat and orderly check stand, sales counter and work production areas
  • prepare, wrap, box, weigh, slice and stock deli/food service products, rotating them as necessary to ensure quality and safety
  • prepare and cook deli and food service items such as fried foods, salads, sandwiches, roller grill items, hot and cold beverages, prepared meals and snack items
  • work safely around sharp slicers, tools, hot ovens and burners
  • display products following deli department and merchandising guidelines
  • take guest orders, ensuring orders are completed on time and to the guest's satisfaction
  • perform other duties assigned by Store Manager
