Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED required
  • minimum of six to twelve months industry experience as a line cook in a restaurant setting
  • ability to read and interpret simple instructions and documents
  • ability to perform arithmetic operations in all units of measure
  • knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
  • ability to keep records for food estimation and production tracking
  • general understanding of professional cooking and knife skills
  • food handler's certification required

Job Duties

  • Follows menus and recipes to produce high-quality culinary dishes
  • responsible for preparing entrees, soups, side dishes, and baked goods according to safety and health regulations
  • observes and tastes prepared dishes to ensure proper cooking
  • arranges, garnishes, and plates food for service
  • attends production meetings focused on preparation instructions and kitchen equipment
  • maintains a clean and sanitized work environment
  • monitors buffet foods for temperature and presentation quality
  • assists kitchen staff with stocking and storing food delivered
  • properly labels and dates leftover foods
  • adheres to all health department standards
  • performs other duties as assigned
