Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year cooking experience preferably in healthcare or senior living settings
  • Ability to complete background screening prior to employment
  • Must be able to work the required hours including rotating weekends
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks related to cooking
  • Reliable transportation
  • Basic knowledge of food safety practices

Job Qualifications

  • Proven cooking experience
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and equipment
  • Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, or senior living food service preferred
  • Ability to work rotating weekends
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Basic food safety certification is an asset

Job Duties

  • Prepare food for service such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and preparing sauces
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with kitchen staff
  • Ensure food is served simultaneously, promptly, and of high quality
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen work area
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Assist in inventory management and food storage
  • Support a collaborative team environment
