Job Requirements

  • high school education or equivalent
  • one to two years of experience in a related position
  • knowledge of kitchen cooking practices and procedures
  • ability to lift and carry food cases up to 70 lbs
  • ability to climb periodically
  • ability to bend knees repeatedly during cooking
  • full mobility to travel up to 50 feet regularly
  • ability to stand continuously during preparation and service
  • ability to hear equipment timers
  • ability to see food preparation clearly
  • ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • check all items against the recipe cards
  • verify that use records are followed for all items served
  • ensure food is presented in an efficient and quality manner
  • monitor the line set up prior to all meal functions for maximum efficiency
  • monitor equipment maintenance and enforce kitchen clean as you go policy
  • prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and portion standards
  • start food items prepared ahead of time without exceeding estimated needs
  • date and rotate all food containers following SOP
  • check pars for shift use and determine necessary preparation and freezer pulls
  • note any out-of-stock items or shortages
  • assist in keeping buffet stocked
  • return unused food items to designated storage areas properly covered and dated
  • assist in setting up plans to correct food cost problems and control waste loss and usage
