Job Requirements

  • must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends
  • high school diploma or GED
  • preferred culinary training or apprenticeship
  • preferred minimum one-year experience cooking in fast-paced kitchens
  • preferred experience with scratch cooking
  • ability to handle kitchen equipment safely
  • ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend and lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to work in varying temperature conditions

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • culinary arts or culinary apprenticeship preferred
  • experience cooking in fast-paced, cook-to-order kitchens preferred
  • experience with scratch cooking preferred
  • familiarity with sauté and broiler cooking techniques preferred
  • ability to read, write and understand English
  • manual dexterity for kitchen utensils and equipment
  • physical stamina for prolonged standing and lifting
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • enhance resident dining experience through food preparation and quality control
  • prepare a variety of food items including meats, vegetables, breads, desserts
  • operate under executive chef guidance following community standards
  • model professional and courteous service in all interactions
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of cooking station
  • ensure food is prepared timely and according to recipes
  • manage kitchen tools and equipment safely and efficiently
