Job Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
  • Able to communicate effectively with managers and co-workers
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 9 hours
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Able to work shifts on evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • At least six months experience in a similar capacity
  • Knowledge of proper food handling and safety standards
  • Ability to follow recipes and portion control guidelines
  • Effective communication skills with managers and co-workers
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with kitchen tools such as blenders, grills, ovens, and knives

Job Duties

  • Cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products
  • Prepare and portion food products prior to cooking
  • Plate and garnish cooked items according to presentation standards
  • Follow all health department guidelines for food handling, storage, and cooling
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas
  • Regulate temperature of kitchen equipment to ensure food safety
  • Rotate and label food products to maintain freshness and quality
  • Stock and maintain food products at line stations
  • Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Assist with menu planning and preparation of specials
  • Substitute or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
  • Close the kitchen following closing checklist
  • Attend scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement
  • Coordinate with fellow employees to support restaurant operations
