Job Requirements
- Two or more years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
- At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
- Able to communicate effectively with managers and co-workers
- Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
- Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 9 hours
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Able to work shifts on evenings, weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
- At least six months experience in a similar capacity
- Knowledge of proper food handling and safety standards
- Ability to follow recipes and portion control guidelines
- Effective communication skills with managers and co-workers
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with kitchen tools such as blenders, grills, ovens, and knives
Job Duties
- Cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products
- Prepare and portion food products prior to cooking
- Plate and garnish cooked items according to presentation standards
- Follow all health department guidelines for food handling, storage, and cooling
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas
- Regulate temperature of kitchen equipment to ensure food safety
- Rotate and label food products to maintain freshness and quality
- Stock and maintain food products at line stations
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes
- Assist with menu planning and preparation of specials
- Substitute or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
- Close the kitchen following closing checklist
- Attend scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement
- Coordinate with fellow employees to support restaurant operations
