Job Description
This job opening is for a Line Cook position within the Food Service department of a commercial kitchen environment, reporting directly to the Executive Chef. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to stand for long periods of time (4-10 hours) and walk frequently
- Ability to carry up to 80 pounds and push/pull up to 1000 pounds
- Ability to use kitchen equipment including knives, slicers, ovens, fryers safely
- Must be able to work different shifts including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts
- May be required to pass physical and written culinary skills tests
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and temperature-variable environment
- Must follow all safety and sanitation regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to follow directions and work independently
- Pleasant, patient, and friendly attitude towards customers and associates
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Experience in a commercial kitchen environment preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
Job Duties
- Responsible for all aspects of customer service
- Interact directly with customers at work station
- Prepare both hot and cold foods using various kitchen equipment including pizza oven, charbroiler, griddle, steam table, blast chiller, combitherm, wok, tilt skillet, fryer, convection oven
- Pack, merchandise, and label merchandise ensuring proper rotation and price integrity
- Cut, weigh, and package deli meats and prepared foods
- Perform quality control tasks
- Follow all relevant rules and regulations of government and regulatory agencies
- Adhere to all company programs, philosophies, and mission statements
- Ensure all equipment is in safe working condition and properly maintained
- Understand and follow recipes
- Maintain production and dump logs
- Restock utensils, bags, cups, napkins, drinks, and condiments
- Set up and breakdown service line and kitchen as needed
- Clean kitchen area including washing dishes, trash disposal, surface sanitation, sweeping, and mopping
- Answer departmental phone
- Make store announcements regarding kitchen specials
- Perform demonstrations when necessary
- Perform other duties as directed by management
