Job Requirements

  • 8th grade education plus
  • One year of full-time experience in cooking and food preparation and use of kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of safety practices
  • Ability to read weights and measures
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to read and interpret recipes
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Must successfully pass specialized, title specific training administered by department upon completion of probationary period

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of full-time cooking and food preparation experience
  • Knowledge of safety practices
  • Ability to read weights and measures
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to read and interpret recipes
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Knowledge of various cooking methods including sautéing, grilling, deep frying, steaming and display cooking
  • Skill in preparing garnishes and presentation of desserts and salad bar
  • Experience in a high-volume food court or station dining concept serving 2,000-7,000 customers per day

Job Duties

  • Prepare proteins, starches, soups, sauces, stock and gravies, a la carte items, grab-n-go and cook to order style foods
  • Operate as part of the culinary team
  • Interact and improvise dishes directly with customers
  • Interpret recipes, weigh and measure ingredients
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment
  • Dispose of trash and measure food waste
  • Maintain cleanliness of station, equipment, and floor
  • Clean kitchen equipment, sneeze guards, and refrigerators
  • Sweep and mop floors
  • Work hours from 2pm to 10:30pm with rotating weekends
