Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler’s Permit
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years of related food service and cooking experience
  • Experience operating kitchen equipment
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Ability to follow instructions and recipes unsupervised
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Ability to work cohesively with residents and staff
  • Dependability and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive motions
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Availability to work flexible hours including some holidays
  • Adherence to sanitation and safety protocols

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler’s Permit
  • Training in Servsafe beneficial
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years of related and advanced food service and cooking experience preferred
  • Experience with basic kitchen equipment operation preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to follow recipes and safety procedures independently
  • Competence with basic computer functions
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals including residents and healthcare staff
  • Patience, compassion, and professionalism towards senior adults
  • Detail-oriented and organized with good follow-through
  • Ability to work under limited supervision and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain a neat workspace and comply with dress code standards
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation, and serving principles

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook to order foods requiring short to mid-level preparation time
  • Prepare and serve food at an a la carte or grill station
  • Follow standardized recipes and product directions for seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving various food items
  • Operate kitchen equipment for measuring, mixing, washing, peeling, cutting, shredding, and trimming ingredients
  • Taste products, review menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and maintain records for supply requisition
  • Attend training on allergy, foodborne illness, food safety, and sanitation practices
  • Receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies, and prepare special diet meals
  • Take and record food temperatures, prepare meals according to production sheets, and plate food with attention to appearance
  • Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of serving lines
  • Comply with company safety and risk management policies and participate in safety meetings and training
