Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare kitchen environment is preferred
  • knowledge of varied food preparation and cooking techniques
  • knowledge of cleaning basic kitchen equipment and procedures
  • ability to follow a standardized recipe
  • strong attention to detail
  • excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Review menus and production estimates and prepare menu items following standard recipes
  • extend or reduce recipes to reflect production estimates
  • prepare modified diets for residents according to diet orders
  • clean and sanitize worktables, ovens, griddles, mixers and other equipment after each use
  • clean assigned items on cleaning schedules
  • ensure proper disposal of food waste and recyclables
  • ensure food storage areas are clean and organized
  • may help with unloading and stocking food deliveries
  • report any malfunctions or safety hazards to the Kitchen Manager
  • follow all safety and sanitation procedures according to company and health department standards
  • ensure compliance with dietary restrictions and preferences of residents
  • work closely with all kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations
  • assist in other areas of the kitchen as needed
  • may act as person in charge in the absence of the Culinary Services Director
