Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous prep and cooking experience preferred
  • ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • good judgment skills and adaptive attitude
  • must possess all required food and alcohol certifications as designated by location
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • ability to stand and walk for full shift
  • good hearing for effective communication
  • ability to use hands and fingers to handle kitchen tools
  • capable of working in noisy environments
  • able to meet physical demands such as bending, stooping, reaching overhead
  • willingness to follow health code and safety regulations

Job Duties

  • Follow recipes and procedures to prepare assigned sauces and food items according to prep lists and par guidelines
  • comply with all health code requirements
  • use knives correctly including wearing a cut glove to chip, cut, dice, etc.
  • prepare, season, and cook dishes such as soups, meats, vegetables, or desserts
  • inspect and clean food preparation areas including equipment and work surfaces to ensure safe and sanitary food handling
  • operate kitchen equipment safely according to position and OSHA regulations
  • contribute to a positive guest experience by exceeding expectations
  • store, receive, stock and rotate food per company standards
  • ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperatures regulating ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
  • ensure freshness of food and ingredients by quality check and stock rotation
  • turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking
  • portion, arrange, garnish food and serve to waiters or patrons
  • observe and test foods to determine doneness using sensory methods
  • wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption
  • understand and follow food allergy procedures and special orders or restrictions
  • work closely and communicate with BOH and FOH team members in a high-paced environment
  • assist other cooks during high volume periods
  • perform other functions as assigned by management
