Job Requirements

  • One year experience as a cook in hotel, restaurant, hospital or similar institution preferred
  • Current food handlers card
  • Verified culinary training or schooling highly preferred
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
  • Ability to plan and organize work, set priorities and multi task
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Regular, dependable and reliable attendance
  • Effective English communications skills both verbal and written
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must meet other pre-employment requirements
  • Must be eligible to work according to e-verify guidelines

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepares food served to residents, visitors and staff
  • Follows standardized recipes and special directed diet orders
  • Prepares soups, stocks and sauces
  • Boils, braises and roasts food items per standardized recipes
  • Sautés, fries, grills, steams and bakes food items per standardized recipes
  • Ensures foods prepared are served within meal serving hours and that quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved
  • Obtains supplies from storage areas in time for meal production
  • Removes food from the serving lines
  • Provides proper handling and storage of raw and prepared foods
  • Stocks levels of staple and non-staple food, supplies, equipment
  • Processes incoming food and supplies deliveries
  • Verifies delivered inventory forms and stores incoming food and supplies
