Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous restaurant experience desired
  • Availability for most weekends, holidays, and evenings
  • Ability to obtain OLCC License and Food Handlers Card within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to follow health and safety protocols
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and early mornings
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and standing for extended periods
  • Willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Job Duties

  • Prepares meals by reviewing recipes, assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients
  • Prepares and controls food usage in order to minimize waste while adhering to all health department guidelines
  • Performs opening and closing duties as assigned by direct supervisor while maintaining constant kitchen cleanliness and smooth kitchen operations
  • Assists the Cafe Supervisor as needed in the production of food for the Milky Way Cafe at the Wings and Waves Waterpark
  • Ensures all food items are stored safely, properly and dated to health department standards
  • Regulates temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and fryers to properly cook a variety of foods
  • Seasons and cooks foods according to recipes or specifications
  • Weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment
  • Operates dishwashing equipment or hand-washes dishes, utensils, pots, etc. and stores clean items according to department procedures
  • Responsible for the general cleanliness and upkeep of all kitchens including sweeping and mopping of floors, cleaning of tables and walls, and all culinary equipment
  • Transports food items and equipment from different locations on campus by either pushing or pulling food cabinets or using a golf cart
  • Receives and checks in food deliveries and stocks and maintains appropriate levels of food products in all locations ensuring no outages and rotates product using FIFO
  • Maintains sanitary workstations and handles food in a manner that is consistent with federal, state, and local health department guidelines
  • Observes and tests foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently according to local health department guidelines
  • Organizes multiple tasks at once and has a sense of urgency
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
  • Respectfully takes direction from managers and supervisors
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
