Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years related and advanced food service experience desired
  • Experience with kitchen equipment operation preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and safety instructions
  • Dependable and detail oriented
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Flexibility to work holidays and varied hours
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Adequate sight and hearing
  • Ability to work in a temperate environment with occasional exposure to heat or cold

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • State sanitation certificate
  • 3-4 years related advanced food service and cooking experience desired
  • Experience operating kitchen equipment
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation and serving principles
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow recipes without supervision
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some holidays
  • Ability to interact cordially with senior residents and staff
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Maintains neat work area and appearance consistent with food code standards

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook to order foods for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events
  • Operate grill station and produce batch goods using classical cooking techniques
  • Follow standardized recipes and portion control to ensure consistent high-quality meals
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, equipment, and kitchen areas
  • Receive inventory, prepare meals for special diets, and properly record and store food items
  • Take and record food temperatures and correct discrepancies
  • Participate in safety training and follow all health and safety regulations
