Job Requirements
- Promote and act in a manner consistent with the mission of River Stone Chophouse
- Take and record temperature of food and storage areas
- Inspect, clean, and maintain food prep areas
- Ensure food stored and cooked at correct temperatures
- Check for food freshness and rotate stock
- Properly label prepared foods
- Follow restaurant portion sizes and cooking methods
- Report discrepancies to management
- Maintain quality of products served
- Stock and maintain food products at line stations
- Handle and rotate food products and supplies
- Turn or stir foods for even cooking
- Maintain hot foods at proper temperature
- Season and cook food according to recipes
- Bake, roast, broil, and steam various foods
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients
- Portion, arrange, and garnish food
- Observe and test foods for doneness
- Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables
- Carve and trim meats
- Assist during off-peak periods
- Substitute for other cooks in emergencies
- Close the kitchen according to checklist
- Check out with Manager
- Attend employee meetings
- Coordinate with employees
- Fill in for fellow employees as needed
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a cook or in a similar culinary role
- Knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards
- Basic knife and kitchen utensil skills
Job Duties
- Cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products
- Prepare and portion food products prior to cooking
- Perform plating and garnishing of cooked items
- Follow health department guidelines for food handling, storage, and cooling
- Maintain proper temperature of food and equipment
- Inspect and clean food preparation and serving areas
- Ensure food freshness and rotate stock
- Label prepared food and discard after seven days
- Adhere to restaurant cooking methods and quality standards
- Report food discrepancies to management
- Stock and maintain food levels at line stations
- Turn or stir foods for even cooking
- Season and cook food according to recipes
- Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients
- Observe and test foods for doneness
- Follow proper plate presentation and garnish setup
- Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables
- Carve and trim meats for service
- Assist in food prep during off-peak periods
- Substitute or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
- Close kitchen following closing checklist
- Check out with Manager at end of shift
- Attend employee meetings and suggest improvements
- Coordinate with employees to meet guest needs
- Fill in for fellow employees when needed
