Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years culinary experience
  • knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
  • ability to perform multiple cooking techniques including baking, broiling, sautéing, braising, roasting, poaching, steaming, and frying
  • strong attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
  • excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • flexibility to work some weekends
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen duties
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years culinary experience
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • ability to read, write, and speak English
  • ability to relate well to all residents including the emotionally upset
  • ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the public
  • ability to report to work regularly and promptly
  • ability to work beyond normal hours when necessary

Job Duties

  • Deliver quality services by performing basic culinary tasks including food preparation of both hot and cold food items
  • cook and cool food items while adhering to established food safety requirements
  • review menu cycle, follow recipes, test product by taste, temperature, portion control and plate appeal
  • proper receiving and storage of departmental supplies
  • use and document proper food safety logs including heating/reheating, FIFO, cooling and walk-in/reach-in logs
  • complete production logs, prep and pull logs along with daily and weekly mise-en-place
  • comply with all departmental policies and procedures including HACCP, mandatory in-services, safety regulations, CARF/CCAC guidelines
  • perform job functions consistent with the mission and goals of Loomis Communities
  • adhere to the Loomis Communities Compliance and Ethics Program
  • demonstrate awareness of and respect for diversity among residents, personnel, families and other stakeholders
  • provide efficient, professional and responsive customer service including waiting on tables and processing customer requests
  • operate dishwashing machine
  • clean and sanitize work area following proper chemical use and sanitation procedures
  • work cooperatively within a team structure
  • perform assigned tasks while promoting resident rights and independence
