Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 2 years of culinary experience
  • availability to work 37.5 hours per week including some weekends
  • knowledge of various cooking techniques including baking, broiling, sautéing, braising, roasting, poaching, steaming, and frying
  • strong commitment to food safety and hygiene standards
  • ability to follow recipes and menu cycles
  • effective communication skills in English
  • ability to work cooperatively within a team
  • physically able to perform culinary tasks and stand for long periods
  • willingness to complete required safety training and certifications

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years culinary experience
  • ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
  • ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations
  • ability to read, write, and speak English
  • ability to relate well to residents including emotionally upset individuals
  • ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public
  • ability to report to work regularly and promptly
  • ability to work beyond normal hours when necessary

Job Duties

  • Deliver quality services by performing basic culinary tasks including food preparation of both hot and cold items
  • cook and cool food items while adhering to food safety requirements
  • review menu cycle and follow recipes
  • test product by taste, temperature, portion control, and presentation
  • properly receive and store supplies
  • follow food safety guidelines and document food safety logs
  • complete production, prep, and pull logs
  • comply with departmental policies and procedures including HACCP and safety regulations
  • perform job functions consistent with the mission and goals of Loomis Communities
  • demonstrate awareness and respect for diversity in interactions
  • provide professional and responsive customer service including waiting on tables and processing customer requests
  • operate dishwashing machines and clean work area following sanitation procedures
  • work cooperatively within a team structure
  • perform assigned tasks promoting resident rights and independence
