Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years culinary experience preferred
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to relate well to all residents including the emotionally upset
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the public
  • Ability to report to work regularly and promptly
  • Ability to work beyond normal hours when necessary

Job Duties

  • Deliver quality services by performing basic culinary tasks including food preparation of both hot and cold food items
  • Cook and cool food items while adhering to established food safety requirements
  • Review menu cycle, follow recipes, test product by taste, temperature, portion control and plate appeal
  • Properly receive and store departmental supplies
  • Use and document proper food safety logs including heating/reheating, FIFO, cooling and walk-in/reach-in logs
  • Complete production logs, prep and pull logs and daily, weekly Mis-en-place
  • Comply with all departmental policies and procedures including HACCP, mandatory in-services, safety regulations and CARF/CCAC guidelines
  • Operate dishwashing machine and clean and sanitize work area using proper chemicals
  • Provide efficient, professional and responsive service to all customers
  • Work cooperatively within a team structure and collaborate positively with co-workers
  • Participate in resident and guest functions, activities and promotions
  • Perform assigned tasks while promoting resident rights and independence
