Job Requirements

  • minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
  • indiana paramedic license
  • ability to obtain surrounding state license within 6 months of hire (illinois)
  • certified flight paramedic advanced certification required within 18 months of hire
  • basic life support (BLS) required upon hire
  • advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) required upon hire
  • pediatric advanced life support (PALS) or its equivalency to be obtained within initial probationary period
  • neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) or its equivalency to be obtained within initial probationary period
  • trauma certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire including ITLS or PHTLS
  • emergency vehicle operator course (EVOC) or its equivalency must be obtained within initial probationary period
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 to be obtained with initial probationary period
  • valid driver's license in the state of indiana with no more than 6 accrued points
  • minimum of 3 years ALS paramedic experience
  • ability to make independent clinical and operational competent decisions in a challenging environment

Job Duties

  • care for ill-injured patients in emergency and non-emergency situations
  • transport patients by ambulance and aircraft
  • relay and receive patient information and condition
  • comply with regulatory requirements and departmental policies
  • drive ambulance safely to and from referral hospital
  • obtain consents and authorizations from patients or legal guardians
  • record time of ambulance runs and process billing and daily reports
