Job Requirements
- High school or equivalent education preferred
- No prior experience required although lifeguard experience is desirable
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, and crouching
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in extreme heat and cold temperatures
- Successful completion of DOJ fingerprinting and background check
- Ability to handle cash and minor food preparation for snack bar positions
- Must submit application prior to scheduled training or group interview
- Positions are part-time and limited to 999 hours per fiscal year
Job Qualifications
- At least 15 years of age with ability to obtain work permit if under 18
- Successful completion of Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training for lifeguard positions
- California Food Handlers certification for snack bar party host positions
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and pace duties and tasks
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and the public
- Knowledge of Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training standards where applicable
Job Duties
- Provide surveillance of swimmers and guests during park hours, special events, and training sessions
- Respond to emergency situations at the facility
- Enforce rules and regulations of city aquatic facilities
- Advise aquatics management of unsafe and unsanitary conditions
- Provide superior customer service to all guests by assisting in a polite and expedient manner
- Perform daily routine chores and maintenance of facility to ensure an orderly and clean facility
- Administer and coordinate emergency first aid as necessary
