Job Requirements
- Complete and submit application prior to lifeguard training course or group interview
- Pass a DOJ fingerprinting and background check
- Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions including extreme heat and cold
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, and crouching
- Positions are part-time and limited to 999 hours per fiscal year
- No full-time regular appointment will be made
Job Qualifications
- At least 15 years of age
- Ability to obtain a work permit if still in high school or under age 18
- Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings
- Successful completion of Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training (for lifeguard positions)
- Ability to obtain California Food Handlers certification upon hire (for snack bar party host positions)
- Prior lifeguard experience is desirable but not required
Job Duties
- Provide surveillance of swimmers and guests during park hours, special events, and training sessions
- Respond to emergency situations at facility
- Enforce rules and regulations of city aquatic facilities
- Advise aquatics management of unsafe and unsanitary conditions
- Provide superior customer service to all guests by assisting in a polite and expedient manner
- Perform daily routine chores and maintenance of facility to ensure an orderly and clean facility
- Provide swimming instruction to participants ranging in age and ability from infants to adults
