Job Description

This position is offered by an established community facility that operates an indoor swimming pool aimed at providing safe and enjoyable aquatic activities to residents and visitors alike. The facility is dedicated to promoting water safety, fitness, and fun through well-maintained pool operations and professionally conducted swimming lessons. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • two years experience working as a lifeguard and teaching swimming lessons or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills or abilities
  • Red Cross certified lifeguard
  • ability to swim and perform lifesaving activities
  • ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • ability to meet attendance requirements

Job Duties

  • Guards the safety of swimmers by providing constant surveillance of the entire pool area
  • directs and supervises the behavior of all swimmers to ensure compliance with pool safety rules
  • provides emergency lifesaving assistance to troubled or drowning swimmers
  • performs lifesaving CPR and first aid in accordance with certified practices and procedures
  • contacts emergency medical assistance when needed
  • stays with victims until emergency medical assistance takes over care of victim
  • teaches swimming lesson classes
  • maintains attendance records for classes
  • mails certification cards for swimming lesson classes
  • maintains the cleanliness of the pool water
  • vacuums bottom of pool surface
  • scrubs side walls
  • back washes filter system
  • checks filter gauges and regulates water level and temperature of pool
  • tests the pool water Ph level, chlorine level and Bromine level as scheduled in order to ensure correct chemical balance of pool water
  • dispenses chemicals into the pool as needed
  • ensures the safety of all swimmers
  • maintains neatness and cleanliness of pool area
  • collects and disposes of trash
  • maintain neat and orderly pool office
