- two years experience in an aviation, military aircraft operations, or dispatch center related field
- helicopter air ambulance pilot experience
- demonstrated knowledge of FAA Part 135 regulations and operational control responsibilities
- previous experience in an Operational Control Center or Part 135 environment
- demonstrated familiarity with flight tracking and communication systems such as Flight Vector, ADS-B
- additional certifications in aviation safety or operations management
- experience working with emergency response procedures and safety management systems
Job Duties
- Monitors active flights to ensure safe and compliant operations in accordance with FAA Part 135 regulations and company policies
- exercises operational control including the authority to initiate, continue, divert, or terminate flights as necessary
- maintains real-time communication with flight crews, dispatchers, maintenance personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated operations
- continuously assesses weather conditions and updates flight crews on potential hazards or necessary deviations from planned routes
- reviews flight plans, weight and balance calculations, and other critical documentation to verify compliance and accuracy
- maintains accurate and thorough records of all operational control decisions, flight activities, crew assignments, and deviations
- assists in emergency response coordination including activation of emergency protocols and communication with relevant agencies
- conducts post-flight reviews to ensure documentation is complete and accurate
- participates in training, evaluations, and ongoing professional development to maintain operational control proficiency
- stays current with changes in FAA regulations, company procedures, and industry best practices to ensure compliance
