Job Requirements

  • Associate's Degree
  • 10 years law enforcement experience
  • 5 years experience in rank of Sergeant or higher with supervisory administrative experience
  • Texas Peace Officer license
  • Master Peace Officer license
  • Valid Texas Driver's license
  • Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray certificate
  • Expandable Baton certificate
  • Current handgun proficiency certificate

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Texas Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Federal Statutes

  • Ability to maintain effective work relations

Job Duties

  • Provide for the safety of students, faculty, staff, and security of all campus buildings and equipment by enforcing laws and regulations
  • Maintain knowledge and compliance of legal requirements
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and reports are in compliance
  • Patrol assigned campus(es) by walking or driving within district's jurisdiction
  • Respond to all calls concerning accidents and reports of suspicious activity
  • Investigate all criminal offenses within district's jurisdiction
  • Collect and preserve evidence including witness statements and physical evidence
  • Arrest perpetrators, file charges, and ensure placement in jail or juvenile detention as necessary
  • Provide traffic control at events or school openings and closings
  • Escort district personnel or students as needed
  • Operate safety and security equipment per established procedures
  • Compile and file required reports and affidavits
  • Ensure officers keep departmental procedures updated
  • Comply with firearms proficiency requirements
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, and background activities
  • Supervise and operate CCTV and alarm systems
  • Monitor emergency phones and report malfunctions
  • Provide medical assistance including CPR/AED and First Aid
  • Assist police personnel and oversee departmental operations
  • Conduct in-service training on legal updates
  • Collect statistics and prepare required crime reports
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Chief of Police
