Job Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree
  • Completion of six units of technical library courses
  • One year of library experience or five years of library experience as substitution
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to stand and sit frequently during work
  • Dexterity to handle files and materials
  • Ability to lift items up to twenty-five pounds
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Must pass reference and background verification
  • Must pass pre-employment medical exam
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field
  • Completion of six units of college-level technical library courses
  • One year of library experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the public and team members
  • Knowledge of library principles, indexes, catalogs, and reference sources

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service for all ages at the library's blended service desks
  • Connect guests of all ages with information, library materials, technology, and print and electronic resources
  • Contribute to creating a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable space for community members of all ages
  • Organize, present, and assist with quality programs for young children and families including storytimes and cultural arts programs
  • Assist with collection-related tasks and create library displays
  • Participate in library outreach activities and conduct library tours
  • Support multiple library divisions and assist with programs for adults, teens, and technology services
