Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts appropriate for recipe adjustments
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to operate food preparation and cleanup equipment
  • Ability to work amicably with peers and maintain a positive attitude in the presence of students

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Job Duties

  • Work with the Food Service Manager to prepare and serve nutritious meals suitable for children that meet state and federal regulations
  • Practice food and sanitization standards that meet or exceed USDA requirements
  • Maintain high safety standards in food preparation and proper equipment use
  • Report any problems or accidents in the kitchen or lunchroom immediately to the Food Service Manager
  • Report receipt of any faulty or inferior quality food to the Food Service Manager
  • Perform other tasks related to food service as assigned from time to time
