Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years experience in health and safety management, preferably in a complex or high-risk environment
- Required safety certifications such as OSHA 30 or NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement health and safety strategies
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and health and safety IT systems
- Ability to conduct risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations
- Experience managing health and safety training programmes
- Knowledge of local and national health and safety regulations
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
- Commitment to promoting a proactive safety culture
- Willingness to deputise for Health and Safety Director when needed
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience in a Health and Safety management role in a high-risk or complex environment
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing safety policies, initiatives and training programmes
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits and inspections
- Track record in incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Required safety qualifications such as OSHA 30 or NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred safety qualifications such as Degree in Safety Management, ASP, CSP, SMS, OHST
- Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards Chartered status is desirable
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data reporting tools
- Excellent management and organisational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Thorough knowledge of occupational Health and Safety standards and regulations
- Hands-on safety management experience in safety-critical organisations
- Experience with Health and Safety management systems and auditing
- Analytical and detail-oriented approach
- Knowledge of injury reporting and investigation record keeping
- Proactive problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Commitment to fostering safety culture and accountability
Job Duties
- Help drive Health and Safety leadership through line management accountability, teamwork and individual responsibility across the Resort
- Help embed Health and Safety as a core value to deliver robust Health and Safety standards, performance and a proactive safety culture
- Support the development and implementation effective Health and Safety strategies and programmes across the Resort, ensuring alignment with broader Resort objectives
- Help drive management ownership and accountability for Health and Safety standards and performance, embedding a proactive and positive safety culture throughout all departments
- Help recognise, evaluate and control risks to health, safety, and Resort reputation, ensuring compliance with laws and internal policies
- Prepare and track Health & Safety action plans and annual work programmes
- Develop and review departmental Risk Assessments, Safe Operating Procedures and Codes of Safe Working Practice
- Oversee the Resort's contractor management programme, ensuring site safety rules and protocols are complied with
- Develop and roll-out new health and safety programmes to improve standards and performance
- Oversee the implementation of control measures and safety procedures for safe maintenance and operations of assets
- Monitor, audit and uphold health and safety standards across the Resort
- Investigate incidents and support responses for liability and workers compensation claims
- Deputise for the Health and Safety Director in their absence
- Collaborate with Resort departments to implement Health and Safety requirements
- Provide guidance and coaching to management teams on health and safety programmes
- Develop strategies to reduce incidents and improve safety performance
- Act as the 'Safety Duty' resource on designated days providing on-the-ground support
- Support capital project safety risk management
- Act as the local reference for Health and Safety IT systems
- Attend and chair relevant committees and forums
- Liaise with enforcement bodies as necessary
- Deliver Health and Safety training programmes
- Cascade health and safety communications and briefings
- Coordinate consultative Health & Safety forums
- Conduct audits, inspections and risk assessment workshops
- Plan and coordinate safety drills
- Investigate incidents and conduct root cause analysis
- Support management of Security and First-Aid operations
- Liaise with insurers and claims handlers
