Job Requirements
- minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation
- completion of food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to work with customers attentively
- ability to perform department-specific duties
- physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs (bakery) or 55 lbs (deli) safely
- ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, and perform fine motor movements as required

Job Duties
- provide superior customer service
- take orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answer customer questions regarding products
- assist customers with selections
- prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
- slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
- assist in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up
- use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- clean and sanitize display cases
- operate and maintain equipment properly
- comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- comply with department and store operating procedures
- record production and shrink to aid in production planning
- assist in baking, frying, and decorating in bakery
- cull bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates
- take care of service counter customers in deli
- use ordering system applications
- perform inventory management processes as required
- ensure catering orders are prepared and ready if applicable
- perform sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
- serve and package products at customer request in prepared foods
- educate customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- prepackage condiments for prepared food items
- cut, slice, dice, and chop food in preparation for chef
