Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and not have reached 37th birthday by closing date unless eligible for veterans' preference waiver
- submit a 2-page resume detailing duties and hours worked
- provide IFPM Selective Placement Factor documentation and IQCS Master Record as proof of qualifications
- meet all qualification requirements by closing date
- maintain currency of NWCG qualifications once hired
- pass the Work Capacity Test at Arduous level
- comply with special retirement provisions for Primary/Rigorous Firefighter positions
- possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS/GW-07 level
- provide proof of prior federal firefighter or law enforcement service if applicable
Job Qualifications
- Successful completion and currency of Primary NWCG Core Requirements including Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4), Crew Boss (CRWB), and Firing Boss (FIRB)
- experience equivalent to GS/GW-07 federal service level in fire suppression and management
- demonstrated leadership in fire line construction and safety training
- knowledge of prescribed fire management and fuels inventory
- familiarity with Incident Qualification and Certification System (IQCS) documentation
- physical fitness to pass the Work Capacity Test (WCT) at Arduous level
Job Duties
- Lead wildland fire management activities including fire preparedness, fuels management, and fire suppression
- monitor and conduct post-fire rehabilitation
- implement prescribed fire and fuels reduction plans
- assist with hazard and emergency response operations
- ensure safety and compliance with Incident Command System protocols
- maintain fire equipment readiness and inspection
- coordinate with interagency fire management teams
