Job Requirements
- Must meet eligibility and qualifications by announcement closing date
- Provide detailed two-page resume including employment dates and hours worked
- Be 18 years of age but not have reached 37 by closing date, unless veteran waiver applies
- Must possess one year specialized experience equivalent to GS/GW-07 federal level
- Successful completion of Work Capacity Test (WCT) at arduous level
- Provide documented Incident Qualification and Certification System Master Record
- Maintain currency in NWCG qualifications once hired
- Submit required documents by closing date
- Adhere to special retirement provisions for federal firefighters
- Cannot submit more than one resume
Job Qualifications
- Successful completion and currency of NWCG Core Requirements: Incident Commander Type 4, Crew Boss, and Firing Boss
- Experience implementing safety and training programs in fire suppression and prevention
- Familiarity with Incident Command System protocols
- Ability to evaluate fire situations and determine appropriate suppression methods
- Experience developing burn plans and managing fuels inventory
- Experience maintaining firefighting equipment and readiness
- Leadership experience in wildland fire module or crew
Job Duties
- Lead wildland fire modules or crews in fire preparedness, fuels management and prevention, fire suppression, monitoring, and post-fire management
- Conduct all hazard and emergency response activities
- Implement safety and training programs in compliance with Incident Command System
- Evaluate initial fire situations and determine suppression methods
- Develop burn plans and manage fuel inventory preparation and disposal
- Maintain fire equipment and ensure readiness for emergency dispatch
- Assist with property management and procurement of firefighting equipment
