Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Ability to work an event-based schedule
  • Prior experience in a similar role preferred
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and/or stand for extended periods
  • Willingness to wear uniform and use Personal Protective Equipment
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to maintain positive attitude and customer service focus
  • Compliance with union guidelines under Unite Here 11
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in a similar role
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment based on previous experience to solve problems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • May act as an informal resource for those with less experience
  • Required to gain an extensive knowledge of the proper use and cleaning techniques for kitchen equipment including but not limited to steamers, ovens, mixers, grills, and dishwashing equipment
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of basic sanitation procedures
  • Understanding of basic kitchen sanitation
  • Basic knowledge of HAACP guidelines
  • Familiar with all kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, steamers, ovens, grills, fryers, flat tops, stove tops, slicers, knives, and other small wares
  • 1-year prior experience working in a team environment
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced quick service, convention center, restaurant, or other foodservice environment helpful
  • Ability to work an event-based schedule which may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Oversees sanitation and cleanliness of dish room and all workstations
  • Oversees removal and proper disposal of waste in the location including recycling
  • Oversees dish room to ensure timely and appropriate sanitation and storage of dishware and utensils
  • Maintains organization, storage, and labeling of chemical products
  • Maintains storage areas so that inventory is sequenced and products are easily accessible
  • Trains and guides utility staff on job duties and proper safety and sanitation procedures
  • Assists out in the front of the house when needed
  • Maintains excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers
  • Keeps accurate temperature logs
  • Ensures completion of any task as delegated by the Executive Steward, Chef de Cuisine, Executive Chef or Manager
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Leads and/or Management
