Job Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prefer one year of experience working in a restaurant or similar environment
  • Prefer one year of experience supervising and managing employees
  • Able to safely operate standard household equipment including dishwasher, iron, vacuum, washer, and dryer
  • Able to operate a personal computer and be proficient in MS Office programs including Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn theory and practice of assisted living and dementia care
  • Able to work with seniors and patiently interact with cognitively impaired individuals
  • Able to be flexible, adapt, make decisions under stress, and prioritize tasks
  • Able to analyze, solve, and respond to problems or concerns
  • Able to obtain and maintain valid first aid certification
  • Able to obtain and maintain valid food handlers certification as needed
  • Must pass a criminal background check and health screening tests including COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of start date
  • For health and safety, must participate in vaccination, daily screening, surveillance testing, and wear PPE as required by regulatory guidelines

Job Duties

  • Supervise the service of meals to ensure maximum resident enjoyment of the dining experience and continuous, predictable, and efficient service
  • Assist residents and other servers in all areas of resident meal service including salads, soup, entrees, beverages, desserts as necessary
  • Ensure efficient, accurate, and timely operation of the dining room POS system, troubleshoot issues, and train staff on system use
  • Assure compliance with all proper serving techniques and etiquette such as serving from the left and clearing used dishes between courses
  • Supervise cleaning and side work in dining room and kitchen areas including establishing and posting assignments for dining room personnel
  • Chart and assign dining room sections for wait staff as needed
  • Ensure proper setup of dining room tables and server stations with utensils, chinaware, glassware, sugars, salt, pepper, creamers, crackers, beverage machines and prepare coffee, juice as needed
  • Bus tables, return dishes to kitchen, clean tables and chairs, sweep and vacuum floors, and flip tables by replacing linens as needed
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and clutter-free work environment
  • Participate in discussions to address resident concerns and reinforce resident independence and aging in place
  • Engage in resident orientation programs and develop professional relationships with residents
  • Assist with planning food items for activities, marketing, and special events as requested
