Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 5 years experience in relay field technician role or similar
- valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- proficiency in using test equipment and related software
- strong communication skills both verbal and written in English
- ability to follow safety protocols and client switching procedures
- basic computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite
- ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff
- willingness to travel as needed
- physical ability to perform field work
Job Qualifications
- minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, relay calibration, testing, and repair
- knowledge in substation design, construction, and commissioning
- experience with SCADA, fault data, integration, and automation equipment
- understanding of three phase power systems and protection/control schemes
- proficiency with test equipment and software
- ability to interpret wiring and elementary diagrams
- basic PC skills including Microsoft Office
- strong interpersonal, communication, and management skills
- valid driver’s license and good driving record
- ability to communicate effectively in English in both reading and writing
Job Duties
- Interpret project-level scope of work and plan commissioning and resource scheduling
- provide team leadership to complete test activities efficiently and safely
- interpret substation drawings including single line, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
- write procedures and test plans supporting maintenance and construction
- perform comprehensive testing including voltage/current verification, relay calibration, trip testing, and alarm verification
- lead troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment
- commission new substations and associated equipment
- provide technical support and mentorship to field service personnel
- serve as subject matter expert in protective relaying
- act as technical lead for small project teams
