Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum of 5 years experience in relay field technician role or similar
  • valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • proficiency in using test equipment and related software
  • strong communication skills both verbal and written in English
  • ability to follow safety protocols and client switching procedures
  • basic computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite
  • ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff
  • willingness to travel as needed
  • physical ability to perform field work

Job Qualifications

  • minimum of 5 years of field experience in commissioning, relay calibration, testing, and repair
  • knowledge in substation design, construction, and commissioning
  • experience with SCADA, fault data, integration, and automation equipment
  • understanding of three phase power systems and protection/control schemes
  • proficiency with test equipment and software
  • ability to interpret wiring and elementary diagrams
  • basic PC skills including Microsoft Office
  • strong interpersonal, communication, and management skills
  • valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • ability to communicate effectively in English in both reading and writing

Job Duties

  • Interpret project-level scope of work and plan commissioning and resource scheduling
  • provide team leadership to complete test activities efficiently and safely
  • interpret substation drawings including single line, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
  • write procedures and test plans supporting maintenance and construction
  • perform comprehensive testing including voltage/current verification, relay calibration, trip testing, and alarm verification
  • lead troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment
  • commission new substations and associated equipment
  • provide technical support and mentorship to field service personnel
  • serve as subject matter expert in protective relaying
  • act as technical lead for small project teams
