Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent or GED with minimum 1 year relevant experience in cooking, production, or food service
  • successful completion of Safe Food Handler certification within 1 year of hire
  • ability to work specified shift hours including weekends
  • adherence to infection control and HACCP standards
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen tasks

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • successful completion of Safe Food Handler certification within 1 year of hire
  • previous healthcare cooking experience preferred
  • completion of some culinary schooling preferred
  • basic knowledge of special diets preferred

Job Duties

  • Measures, mixes, and prepares ingredients according to approved recipes
  • demonstrates understanding and proper use of kitchen equipment including blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, ovens, steamers
  • demonstrates consistent use of knife skills such as chopping, slicing, dicing, paring
  • prepares and presents café, patient, and catering menu items according to recipes and standards
  • prepares and presents sauces, soups, stews, casseroles, and desserts meeting established dietary guidelines
  • cooks meats, fish, and fowl safely by baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming
  • monitors and records temperature of steam table and hot held items during service
  • tests foods for doneness and adjusts heat control
  • maintains product levels and appearance of service stations
  • observes infection control and HACCP practices
  • completes daily temperature logs and production sheets
  • maintains kitchen station in a safe, organized manner
  • manages work schedule efficiently
  • monitors cooking equipment and communicates for repairs as needed
