Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years experience in housekeeping or 1 year experience in luxury hotel housekeeping
  • ability to speak and hear
  • close and distance vision
  • continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • frequent sitting
  • stand for long periods of time
  • walk extended distances
  • lift/carry over 50 lbs
  • reach hands and arms in any direction
  • kneel and/or stoop repeatedly

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • experience in housekeeping or related field
  • minimum 2 years in housekeeping or 1 year in a luxury hotel housekeeping
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to mentor and train staff
  • knowledge of housekeeping procedures and safety standards
  • ability to perform physical tasks required by the job

Job Duties

  • Serves as a departmental role model or mentor by working alongside employees to perform technical or functional job duties
  • leads a team of housekeepers assigned to clean suites
  • assigns and ensures work tasks are completed on time and that they meet appropriate quality standards
  • has the authority to assign room assignments and public areas for cleaning to the housekeepers and house persons when the manager or supervisor is not present
  • organizes and takes a close inventory of all housekeeping storages
  • communicates with supervisors and managers on job performance but does not deliver any disciplinary actions
  • ensures that all housekeeping staff follow the guidelines and SOPs for their day-to-day duties
  • discusses work topics, activities, or problems with coworkers, supervisors, or managers discreetly and quietly, avoiding public areas of the property
  • speaks to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate, and professional language
  • talks with and listens to other employees to effectively exchange information
  • exchanges information with other employees using electronic devices such as pagers, two-way radios, and email
  • performs all the regular tasks of a housekeeper or house person including cleaning suites, house person duties, public area cleaning, and deep cleaning projects
  • performs other duties as assigned
