Job Requirements

  • Pass physical examination for essential job functions
  • ability to read, write, and perform basic math
  • six months experience in preparation and service of food in institutional or commercial food service
  • knowledge of basic food preparation including knife skills, service and sanitation methods
  • ability to handle and lift heavy kitchen utensils and supplies (e.g., 40 pounds)
  • good physical health
  • customer service and supervisory experience preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math
  • six months experience in food preparation and service in an institutional or commercial food service facility
  • knowledge of basic food preparation including knife skills, service and sanitation methods
  • ability to handle and lift heavy kitchen utensils and supplies
  • good physical health
  • customer service and supervisory experience preferred

  • strong verbal, written, and email communication skills
  • self-motivated
  • detail oriented

Job Duties

  • Basic food preparation such as building sandwiches and pizzas
  • service tasks including plating food
  • sanitation tasks to maintain clean and safe work areas
  • demonstrate food preparation procedures including roasting, sautéing, frying, baking, steaming, mixing and knife skills
  • operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • prepare food according to instructions and proper food handling techniques
  • assist in completing Serving Line Worksheets
  • maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in work areas
  • set up service and preparation areas as assigned
  • provide high-quality service to customers and assist in meeting customer service objectives
  • direct, help train and assist student employees in food preparation and service
  • clean and replenish service, dining, and dishwashing areas during and after service
  • complete required training
  • perform other duties as assigned
