This job opportunity is with the Shaw Lanes Bowling Center located at Shaw Air Force Base, a key installation supporting Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) activities for the United States Air Force and Space Force personnel. Job Requirements

  • Complete a background investigation with favorable results
  • Physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Be able to continuously stand and walk, frequently stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend for long periods of time
  • Be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical
  • Obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler's training
  • Satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries
  • Meet qualification and eligibility requirements
  • U.S. citizens or non-U.S. nationals residing in U.S. territory for at least three consecutive years
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service
  • Direct deposit is required
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification check
  • Meet pre-employment requirements prior to Entrance on Duty
  • Provide required identification for installation access

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish food service duties
  • Skilled in following oral instructions and using hand tools for cleaning
  • Skilled in operating simple machines
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food
  • Ability to perform tasks with several steps using judgment in sequencing
  • Experience with point of sale systems
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Physical stamina for prolonged standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending
  • Ability to obtain Food Handler’s Certificate
  • Ability to work in compliance with Military Public Health and USDA Food Code
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience in food service environment

Job Duties

  • Ensure preparation of food and beverage items using measured and standard recipes
  • Observe and ensure portion control when preparing menu items
  • Lead subordinate staff in daily operations directed by supervisor
  • Serve food in a snack bar style
  • Demonstrate proper work methods and check work progress
  • Ensure equipment is set up, clean, and maintained for daily operation
  • Train employees in setup, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment
  • Sell posted menu items, daily specials, and limited variety of prepared food and beverages
  • Ensure Point of Sale system is utilized and maintained
  • Ensure daily deposit is counted and correct
  • Train staff to maintain correct daily deposits, cash count, credit card transactions, and support functions
  • Maintain the facility in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
  • Ensure preparation for the next day’s business
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with Military Public Health and USDA Food Code
  • May act as facility representative for MPH inspections in absence of manager
  • Place, receive, and inspect food and beverage orders
  • Recommend new items for menu inclusion
  • Store food and beverages according to standard procedures
  • Assist with monthly inventories
  • Ensure display coolers are restocked
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
