Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in dispatch or scheduling roles preferably in transportation
- Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and effectively
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor and appearance
- Good communication skills
- Availability to work shifts including opening or closing facility
- Commitment to safety procedures
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment drug test and background check as required
- Must reside in California or comply with California Applicant Privacy Policy
Job Qualifications
- Experience in paratransit scheduling utilizing Trapeze PASS
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Telephone speaking and call center experience
- Computer experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attendance record
Job Duties
- Monitor system performance to ensure on-time performance meets contract requirements
- Minimize dispatch related customer complaints
- Reduce telephone hold times within contract limits
- Handle emergency situations per local policies with proper notification and documentation
- Maintain scheduling and performance data during real-time operations
- Assist operators during emergencies or vehicle malfunctions coordinating with operations, safety, and maintenance staff
- Reschedule trips as needed due to vehicle issues, traffic, or emergencies
- Assign will-call and same day trips to appropriate vehicles to optimize on-time performance and minimize wait times
- Reconcile trip manifests and fares collected by operators upon check-in
- Provide assistance to passengers regarding service usage and individual trip status
- Document daily service events accurately
- Maintain a safe work environment focusing on employee safety
- Communicate effectively with operations staff about scheduling and passenger issues
- Open and close the facility as required by the shift
- Maintain professional demeanor and appearance
- Keep attendance within policy guidelines
- Oversee supervisor calls and provide direction
- Assist with same day reschedules ensuring productive runs
- Review and address complaints related to dispatch events
- Handle multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Maintain two-way communications with operators, providing information on customers, cancellations, and directions
- Monitor operators and trip statuses, adjusting as necessary to ensure punctuality
- Document operator attendance, passenger and scheduling issues, vehicle problems, emergencies, and disruptions
- Manage spare vehicle usage to support preventive maintenance
- Answer passenger calls collecting trip details and provide accurate arrival times
- Offer system information for current, new, and potential passengers
- Follow-up with passengers regarding schedule changes
- Communicate passenger cancellations timely to relevant personnel
- Maintain up-to-date passenger records in the customer database
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Foster teamwork and support among staff, management, and peers
