Job Requirements

  • Three years of custodial service experience
  • ability to evaluate, troubleshoot, and prioritize tasks
  • capability to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • experience directing staff
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in food service settings
  • knowledge and experience with custodial equipment and chemicals
  • understanding of sanitation procedures and safety practices
  • strong customer service skills

  • basic proficiency in English and math
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • preferred experience overseeing custodial services in food service
  • preferred ServSafe or Food Service Handler Certification

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in custodial service
  • experience directing other staff
  • experience maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in high-volume kitchen or dining area
  • experience with custodial equipment such as buffers, floor machines, power washers, and vacuum cleaners
  • knowledge of cleaning chemicals and sanitation procedures
  • knowledge of cleaning methods for different floor surfaces
  • knowledge of healthy and safe work practices including PPE and MSDS
  • ability to follow directions and sanitation requirements
  • excellent customer service skills
  • ability to work within a team environment
  • basic English and math skills related to job performance
  • ability to comprehend and follow technical and safety instructions
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Job Duties

  • Plan daily and weekly work assignments with manager
  • provide leadership, direct, and train custodians, food service, and student staff
  • monitor performance and identify training needs
  • communicate concerns and recommend solutions to management
  • maintain and secure cleaning equipment
  • perform general cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, buffing, cleaning kitchens, and handling waste disposal
  • operate and maintain cleaning machinery
  • provide customer service during meal periods
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of operational areas
  • ensure safe use of cleaning chemicals and practices
  • act as liaison of custodial group and participate in interviews
  • communicate safety concerns and participate in inspections
  • coordinate projects with related departments
  • assist with driving duties for material transport
  • engage in professional development and perform other related duties as assigned
