Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- at least 2 years of institutional cooking experience
- valid Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain within two weeks
- physical capability to stand for prolonged periods and perform lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling
- comfort working with individuals with special needs
- ability to work in rustic outdoor environment for the season
- proficiency in conflict resolution
- strong computer skills
- excellent communication skills
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- at least 2 years of institutional cooking experience
- 1-2 years of experience in food service, cafeteria, or kitchen support preferred
- valid Food Handlers Permit as mandated or ability to pass San Bernardino County Food Safety Card training within two weeks of employment
- proficiency in conflict resolution and problem-solving
- strong computer skills for effective record keeping
- excellent communication skills for training and supervising staff
- independence in decision-making and business judgment
Job Duties
- Prepare, cook, and serve meals for campers and staff including accommodating special dietary needs
- follow pre-planned menus, portion control standards, and food safety procedures
- maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and dining areas including washing dishes and pots
- ensure compliance with health and safety standards including proper food storage and handling
- collaborate with other food service staff for meal prep, serving, and cleanup
- track and manage inventory of kitchen supplies and notify supervisors of needs
- assist in receiving, storing, and organizing food deliveries
- support special events, theme meals, or birthday celebrations occasionally
- prepare to take on necessary roles as directed in emergencies to ensure safety of all campers, guests, and staff
- report any maintenance or safety concerns to Facilities Manager
- uphold Mandated Reporter responsibilities
- perform other duties as assigned to support program mission
