Job Requirements

  • No high school diploma and/or no GED required
  • Three years experience performing food preparation and/or service
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification mandatory
  • Ability to work varied shifts
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others
  • Capability to follow HACCP guidelines and food safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • ServSafe Food Handler certification
  • Minimum three years experience performing food preparation and/or service
  • Formal culinary training preferred
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
  • Knowledge of food safety techniques and HACCP guidelines
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and safety precautions
  • Knowledge of sanitary food preparation procedures
  • Knowledge of food preparation equipment and techniques
  • Skill in prioritizing and coordinating activities
  • Skill in problem analysis and resolution
  • Effective communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Job Duties

  • Organizes, directs, and coordinates functions and activities in the food service department to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment, supplies and staffing daily
  • Plans, schedules, coordinates, and assigns work and establishes goals and priorities for Cook I, Cook II and Food Service Workers
  • Directs activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals
  • Maintains and establishes departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and health and safety standards
  • Ensures standards of quality, hygiene, and efficiency are met throughout the food service operation
  • Ensures necessary sanitary levels are maintained throughout the food preparation process
  • Guides and assists in the training of Cook I, Cook II and Food Service Workers
  • Monitors preparation of food and produces small to large batch goods using advanced cooking, plating and garnishing techniques
  • Operates kitchen utensils and equipment to prepare food according to menus and dietary restrictions
  • Resolves problems encountered by employees during assignments
  • Requests, stocks, organizes, and rotates products per HACCP guidelines
