Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or GED
  • Illinois Department of Public Health Sanitation Certification within 3 months of start date
  • ability to work Monday to Friday, 12pm to 8:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays
  • minimum of five years of food service experience or two years of leadership experience preferred
  • strong communication and organizational skills
  • ability to train and supervise staff
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift kitchen equipment

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management or hospitality preferred
  • completion of an ACF accredited culinary arts or hospitality management program preferred
  • Illinois Department of Public Health Sanitation Certification within 3 months of start date
  • minimum of five years of food service experience or two years of leadership experience preferred

Job Duties

  • assist the Executive Chef in overseeing the cooks
  • ensure compliance with local and federal production, sanitation and safety standards
  • assist in training new staff
  • notify Facilities of any malfunctioning equipment
  • prepare menu items using standardized recipes for patients, cafeteria, and catered services
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
  • monitor food quality and portion control
