Job Requirements

  • high School Diploma or GED required
  • Illinois Department of Public Health Sanitation Certification within 3 months of start date
  • ability to work full time 40 hours per week including evenings, rotating weekends and holidays
  • strong culinary skills and knowledge of food safety standards
  • effective leadership and communication skills
  • ability to assist in training and supervising kitchen staff
  • capability to handle physical demands of the cooking environment

Job Qualifications

  • high School Diploma or GED
  • bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant management or Hospitality preferred
  • completion of an ACF accredited culinary arts or hospitality management program preferred
  • Illinois Department of Public Health Sanitation Certification within 3 months of start date
  • minimum five years of food service experience preferred
  • minimum two years of leadership experience preferred

Job Duties

  • assist the Executive Chef in overseeing cooks
  • ensure compliance with local and federal production, sanitation and safety standards
  • assist in training new staff
  • notify Facilities of any malfunctioning equipment
  • prepare menu items utilizing standardized recipes for patients, cafeteria and catered services
  • manage daily kitchen operations
  • uphold sanitation and safety protocols
