Job Description

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience with large-scale cooking and food preparation/serving
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers
  • Ability to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Ability to carry out detailed instructions
  • Ability to interact effectively with students and staff
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work standing for long periods
  • Willingness to work in hot and noisy environments

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Previous experience with large-scale cooking and food preparation/serving
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s
  • Basic knowledge and experience with job related computer hardware and software applications
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but basic written or oral instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education Policies

Job Duties

  • Responsible for all general food preparation, serving and sanitation procedures
  • Assists in the preparation of vegetables, salads, sandwiches and other menu items
  • Assists in counter set-up and breakdown
  • Assists in serving of daily menu items
  • Responsible for sanitation in specific work areas and general kitchen cleanup
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisors
