Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous cooking experience in restaurant or banquet environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items
  • Strong attention to detail and safety
  • Willingness to complete Food Service Sanitation course within one year
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a cook in a banquet or large-scale food service setting
  • Ability to prepare complex sauces, gravies and dishes
  • Experience in supervising kitchen staff
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication and leadership abilities
  • Completion of Food Service Sanitation course preferred or willingness to complete within one year

Job Duties

  • Check and ensure adequate supply of foods and seasonings
  • Check that food is adequately prepared for cooking and serving
  • Prepare sauces, gravies and other foods of medium and higher complexity according to directions
  • Operate various cooking stations and all cooking equipment
  • Recommend adjusting cycles of menus based on food quantities and demand
  • Ensure cleanliness of food preparation areas
  • Supervise activities of Cooks and Cooks II providing instruction and guidance
  • Organize cooking and food storage areas
  • Follow safety rules and maintain clean and orderly work area
  • Break down workstation, clean and restock
  • Create specials utilizing both new and dated products
  • Ensure sanitation guidelines are followed as per health department
  • Open assigned outlets timely as instructed by supervisors
  • Conduct self in an appropriate professional manner
  • Complete projects or tasks as assigned
  • Work various shifts including holidays and weekends
  • Pass Food Service Sanitation course within one year
  • Perform other duties as assigned
