Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • 3-5 years experience as a lead cook
  • Current Serve Safe certificate or willingness to acquire within 60 days
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to lead the work of the central kitchen staff
  • Current Alaska driver’s license with acceptable driving and criminal history records

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to lead kitchen staff effectively
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Current Alaska driver’s license with acceptable driving and criminal records

Job Duties

  • Coordinate with Food Service Manager in menu preparation, ordering, and storing food
  • Provide oversight and prepare all food according to preplanned menu cycle
  • Maintain quality food standards with respect to content, texture, and temperature
  • Assure food is held at proper temperature to prevent bacterial growth and keep accurate temperature records
  • Supervise and provide direction to kitchen staff
  • Manage time effectively and meet production deadlines
  • Operate all institutional kitchen equipment
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
