Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • one year of full-time paid institutional cooking experience
  • minimum one year of successful kitchen supervision
  • ability to read and understand safety rules and instructions
  • competent in basic math
  • ability to follow oral and written directions
  • current Food Handlers Card
  • Certified Food Services Manager Certification
  • valid Oklahoma Driver's License
  • ability to work varied shifts
  • meet physical demands of standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds
  • adherence to Tulsa City County Health Department Food Code regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • one year of full-time institutional cooking experience
  • at least one year of kitchen and staff supervision experience
  • ability to read and interpret safety and maintenance documents
  • effective communication skills
  • knowledge of institutional food preparation and cooking
  • current Food Handlers Card
  • Certified Food Services Manager Certification
  • valid Oklahoma Driver's License

Job Duties

  • Oversee the planning of menus to utilize food stock effectively
  • assess grocery and supply needs and order accordingly
  • review shelter census to prepare appropriate food quantities
  • select and prepare meats, fowl, and vegetables according to instructions
  • cook food using ovens, griddles, and other utensils
  • serve food from steam tables
  • ensure adherence to kitchen cleaning schedules
  • clean kitchen floors, equipment, and storage areas
  • enforce grease and food disposal guidelines
  • supervise kitchen staff
  • perform other assigned duties
