Job Requirements

  • Two to three years line cook experience in an upscale environment
  • Private club, resort, or hospitality experience preferred
  • Culinary school degree preferred
  • Possess Food Handler Certificate or obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Must provide valid documents to work in the US
  • Ability to move frequently around the kitchen and club areas
  • Must be able to stand for up to 80 percent of the time
  • Ability to distinguish flavors, textures, and temperatures for food preparation
  • Ability to use standard kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Ability to detect items throughout kitchen and storage areas
  • Able to communicate accurately with staff
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move supplies weighing up to 50 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of general culinary industry standards
  • Skilled in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods such as grilling, baking, and boiling
  • Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation standards and ability to follow them
  • Ability to be reliable, responsible, and work well under pressure
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in task performance
  • Critical thinking skills for problem solving in standardized situations
  • Ability to read and learn recipe items, product labels, food tickets, and training documents
  • Flexibility to maintain work schedule including holidays, weekdays, and weekends
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance as outlined in company standards

Job Duties

  • Assist in planning, creation, and preparation of meals for regular, banquet, and daily menus
  • Maintain food preparation areas, storage, and holding areas in clean, organized, sanitary, and safe condition
  • Maintain adequate food items to sufficiently support meal orders and advise management when supplies are low
  • Review prep lists daily and check completeness of mise en place before service
  • Control waste and spoilage through attention to detail
  • Communicate needs for food and equipment to kitchen management
  • Assist in banquet preparation, service, and station setup/breakdown
  • Report faulty equipment or unsafe conditions
  • Communicate effectively with front and back of house staff
  • Handle member/guest complaints and assist in resolution
  • Submit ideas for operational improvements and personnel management
  • Assist in staffing coverage and ensure adherence to opening and closing procedures
  • Ensure cleanliness exceeds health department standards
  • Adhere to safety codes and report injuries
  • Maintain professional behavior and positive workplace relationships
  • Assist in periodic menu review and revisions as directed
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by Executive Chef or Sous Chef
