Job Requirements

  • Education and experience equivalent to meeting subordinate cook qualifications
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift or move products up to 50 pounds
  • ability to push or pull carts up to 75 pounds
  • use of hands for slicing, dicing, and operating kitchen equipment
  • good vision including close, color, and depth perception
  • willingness to consistently use personal protective equipment
  • ability to tolerate heat and cold
  • mobility to move about campus locations for catering events
  • effective communication skills
  • compliance with all safety and sanitation regulations

Job Duties

  • Assures availability of raw products and assesses pre-preparation status
  • organizes and prioritizes production tasks
  • assigns and instructs personnel accordingly
  • trains, monitors, supports, and works with assigned personnel
  • ensures adherence to department standards including safety, sanitation and preventive maintenance
  • consistently checks and recommends improvements to standardized recipes
  • assures production occurs close to service and maintains product quality
  • maintains all required production records
  • recommends changes in procedures, staffing and scheduling to increase efficiency
  • promotes a team approach while demonstrating professionalism
  • maintains a neat, professional appearance
  • performs other tasks as requested
