Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- current ServSafe certificate or willingness to obtain
- at least one year cooking experience preferred, especially in senior living communities
- ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- strong communication skills
- proficient organizational and time management skills
- compliant with state and local food safety regulations
- ability to maintain resident confidentiality
- capable of working in a team environment
- physically capable of standing for long periods and performing kitchen duties
- must pass drug screening and pre-employment health checks
- adherence to COVID-19 and influenza vaccination requirements as mandated by law
Job Qualifications
- maintains a current ServSafe certificate or willing to complete food services sanitation training
- associates degree in Culinary Arts preferred
- one year experience as a cook in a senior living community preferred
- ability to handle multiple priorities
- effective written and verbal communication skills
- strong organizational and time management skills
- good judgment, problem solving, and decision making skills
- understands and supports Sunrise’s principles of service and team member credo
Job Duties
- prepares, coordinates, and assists in managing meal service, sanitation, record keeping, receiving, rotating, and inventory of products and regulatory compliance
- assists Executive Chef or Dining Service Coordinator in daily shift supervision, food cost control, and maintaining security of all food items and supplies
- manages team when Dining Services Coordinator is absent
- adheres to posted menus, prepares food items using approved standardized recipes
- applies culinary math and measures to achieve production levels
- prepares correct portioning and plate presentation of menu items, monitors compliance and quality service standards
- prepares special dietary needs and texture modified foods as requested
- maintains cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards
- records food production quantities, taste evaluations, equipment and food temperatures
- reviews resident diet information and maintains confidentiality
- performs cleaning and sanitation duties and maintains kitchen equipment
- ensures compliance with safety procedures and occupational health standards
- participates in team meetings and training, contributes to team success
- performs other duties as assigned
